![]() These shots are some of my most precious memories. My best friend Pat O'Hearn and I went to see V.S.O.P. at the Universal Amphitheater in '85. Because we were still "famous" from our Missing Persons success, we were able to go backstage and see our idols. We had met (and Pat had played with Tony) a few times before so we were very happy to see each other. And because there were press and photographers around these shots were taken and I was able to get some copies. I remember being moved to tears by the stunning performance - and was so impressed because these guys were playing better than ever inspite of the commercial digressions they had experimented with in the past (remember Herbie's "Rockit"?)!!! - well, there was no decadence here! And after feeling like I had "sold out" with Missing Persons this was all the more impactful on me. But, here we are, in our best suits, a couple of ex-jazzer rock stars with the biggest hair on the planet, hanging with our heros, and lucky enough to have it on film. |
