I'm overwhelmed by the support of my friends in helping me to pull off the one world project! Brent Juve spent hours changing heads (till 4am!) and helping me build, lift setup, adjust and move my new kit in time to use it for the show. In addition he acted as security and personal assistant in the final hectic moments before we went on, running errands and helping organize. Brent also enlisted the help of my tech Paul Roarback who with his friends and tech Doug Deyoung not only broke down and loaded the kit but also changed and repaired a tire, and saved serious damage to drums and trailer by warning me that the door had opened in route and was dragging on the street! With their help my new kit went up beautifully and is locked into position for future use.

Brent also introduced me to Nathan Batiste (Host U Online, Inc.) and Eric Dorris (Altitude Digital) who have become my webmasters and personal film company! Not only have they edited my Out Trio DVD but they have also professionally filmed my AMN performance and captured this wonderful one world event and have begun editing as well! (Brent even thought to have Nate set up 2 time-lapse cameras to capture the setup and building of the kit from blank stage to completion!)

then after the show Brent performed one of the best interviews ever! Nate documented my thoughts on the concept of the show and my approach to playing and the compositions etc.!

I proceeded to the meet and greet and to the luxurious tour bus (provided by Leigh Mahoney's boyfriend) to relax and recapture the moments we shared on stage. Before I knew it, Paul and Brent had meticulously packed my drums and belongings up and handed me my keys!! After weeks of non stop work, I didn't have to lift a finger to clean up the incredible mess that I created!!!

Now, the musicians…

This was a class act all the way, there were no slouches on that stage!!!

1st, Stephen Barber ..

My friend's , Chet Himes and Stephen Bruton have tried to get me together w/Steve Barber for years and you know how it is, it just takes timing!! Well, for all the 10 years that I've lived here, I dreamed of a musician who I could really relate to... One who was of like mind and skills and influences with whom I could play with in town and not have the logistical hassles of bringing in friends from Europe , New York or l.A .

So, enter Steven Barber and I find in one person, an incredible pianist, composer, arranger and improviser who also just so happens to be tapped in to the best of the best in Austin ! Not only is he a sweetheart but he brings in Chris Maresh on bass and the fantastically hip Tosca Strings!!

Now Chris is my ideal bassist - this guy is one in a million! Excellent bass player, soloist, and composer/arranger who can read his ass off!! He sight read my most difficult Jaco -Miles-like bass parts cold!!! The first time we played it was instant chemistry and compositional improvising that just worked, period. I love him!

Now my girls ..

Leigh Mahoney
Ames Asbell
Sara Nelson
Tracy Seeger

Tosca is a rare breed of string players who are classically trained virtuosos but have no problem plugging in and burning! They have excellent instincts and influences that are right up my alley. Their contribution of Piatzzola's "four for tango" was a jewel in the program. Their patience with my writing was greatly appreciated. I especially appreciated the passion that they played my music with. That really made it come alive. (Also as it has been noted: they're easy on the eyes!!!) I don't think that I have had "what she never heard" ever performed so beautifully (and a special thanks to Steven for his arrangement of it for strings). Four days ago this past week they came into my living room and created the most beautiful musical atmosphere that I have ever had the pleasure of having in my house.

I loved Steven's addition of Michelle Schumann (who was brilliant on piano), Mike Maddux (accordion), Rebecca Henderson (oboe). Together they added unexpected color and character to the ensemble. To cap it off, we were honored by the presence of the Austin Symphony conductor Peter Bay who was very complimentary to us!

Of course, my friend Hartt Stearns and all the crew at one world gave me the most beautiful venue to launch this in.

Thanks to Kevin, Pat, Marcus, Cat, Lana, Terry and Illuminada for their tireless support.

Thanks to Mary Cushing smith for tuning and tweaking my piano and also thanks to Cobra Piano movers for carefully getting it there and back affordably!

Thanks to John and Don, Steve, Garrison, Rich, Mark, Louie, Bill and all at DW Drums for creating such a beautiful instrument to play on.

To my wonderful chiropractor Dr. Mike Maggio from One World Chiropractic for supporting my spine and showing up with his portable table even though I had no time to meet and adjusted before the show!!

To engineer/friend Chet Himes (who although he Couldn't record it due to his busy schedule, graciously sent his assistant Ely to capture the audio.

Thanks to both of you.

All in all we have accomplished a dream... To have a loosely affiliated ensemble of independent , talented musicians coming together when we can to perform music with out boundaries or genre restrictions! We were limited only by our own imaginations! We pulled this together by the seat of our pants, worked a dangerous job, without a safety net and pulled it off! So thank you to all and "now we begin!" We will book new dates and write more music in hopes of cultivating an audience who wants to see real musicians, really play and create something new and beautiful to stand as a real alternative to the music-biz-machine fodder-ridden times we find ourselves living in!

Life is joy and sadness... At the time I was drifting to sleep in the fullness of joy my dear friend and blues legend Omar Dykes' loving wife Lynn passed away. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her, Omar and his beautiful son Jake. We want to do anything to help you at this time of grief. A trust fund for Jake is set up and info contributions will be coming soon.
