DO BUY the Video Live in concert it has the same picture of Terry on it as appears on the main page of this site. This IMO is the single most amazing drum solo in the last 30 years if not ever. The more I watch it the more I am in AWE of it. I have NEVER EVER heard anyone build such complex timbres and melodic polyrythms via the drums alone. |
| If anyone has already seen it I am sure you will agree, and I also had a question. On the 2nd song on the tape I think its quintessence or something to that approximate name...I think I am hearing a sort of clicking accompaniment and I think Terry MIGHT MAYBE even be working a type of cymbal where a bass drum might normally be? I think he's working it with his left foot ? But however it is being done it is only one of MANY amazing timbres and rhythms he demonstrates throughout this entire tape....Someone should put this tape in a time capsule. IF Buddy Rich is the Charlie Parker of drums it's my Humble opinion that Terry is the Beethoven of Drums....just 4 pure geniuses in sort of parallel genres. I just can't say enough about this tape the fantastic work Terry did with Zappa and Situation Dangerous doesn't even come close to what is on his live in concert video. No drum video library or music video library is complete without this tape. I find it sort of sad that so many GIANTS are only appreciated in post retrospect. |
